Mezzo Soprano Silvana Chu received her Master's degree in Music at the Manhattan School of Music.

Silvana Chu serves as a cantor and section leader at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, where she performs for concert series and church services.

Silvana’s recent performances as Alto Soloist are Rossini-Petite Messe Solennelle with Hong Kong Oratorio Society in Hong Kong, Mozart-Mass KV220 and Bach-St.John Passion in NYC. She was also invited as a guest artist and performed the 20th Anniversary Concert for the Romanian Music Society in Tokyo.

Silvana is actively involved with new productions. Her recently premiered operas are Iranian American opera "The Threshold of Brightness" by Iranian composer Niloufar Nourbakhsh with Beth Morrison Projects at National Sawdust in New York City. She also premiered the Italian opera , "Furiosus", composed by Roberto Scarcella Perino at Merkin Hall Lincoln Center, and “Mass for the Future” by American composer George M. Atwell.

Silvana was the First Prize and Special Prize winner of the vocal division in the 14th Romanian International Music Competition in Japan. She performed her winner’s concerts at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and Takanawa Ward Center Hall. She also held her Solo Vocal Recital at the Romanian Embassy in Tokyo.

In 2023, Silvana was invited to sing her Romania Concert Tour at Athenaeum in Bucharest, as well as Cultural Centers in Brasov and St. George.

In Concert appearance, Silvana was featured as Mezzo soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass at Lincoln Center, and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy at Carnegie Hall. Other Mezzo Solo works include Bach’s Cantata “Wir danken dir, Gott” BWV 29, Bach’s St. Mark Passion and St. John Passion. Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Vaughan Williams’ Mass in G Minor, as well as Mozart’s Requiem etc in New York City.

Silvana’s operatic roles include “The 2nd Lady” in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, “Suzuki” in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, “Mary” in Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer, “Abbess and Monitor” in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, “Irene” in Handel’s Atalanta, “Bradamante” in Handel’s Alcina, Giovanna” in Verdi’s Rigoletto, “Orlofsky” in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, “Cherubino” in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, and “Gertrude” in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, and Broadway Musical Into the Woods by Steven Sondheim.
